Moore Stephens Technology Australia (MSTA) in Parramatta has developed a Microsoft Dynamics AXbased system that is set to revolutionise the firearms industry in Australia.
The system is designed to streamline the process of importing and distributing firearms and associated products resulting in improved tracking and security as well as significant time and cost savings for users. (To download full brochure click here).
Mr Garry Childs, Director of MSTA in Parramatta, said the system enables streamlined and seamless importation, distribution and tracking of firearms. “With our system, every facet of a firearm’s deployment is covered, from the moment they enter the country until the time they are ultimately
destroyed,” Mr Childs said.
“The system handles every aspect of a firearm’s importation including firearms registry documentation, serial and registry numbers and customs requirements right through to distribution to dealers and associated tracking,” he added.
“It doesn’t stop there though,” Mr Childs said. “The system also looks after sales to the end user and all processes in-store including PTA, deposit, collection, modification, repair and destruction.”
The application has been installed at Beretta Australia, a leading international manufacturer and Australian distributor of firearms. Beretta will test the system and provide MSTA with feedback prior to the application’s formal launch.
Mr Luca Scribani Rossi, Managing Director of Beretta Australia, said the MSTA application had the potential to change the way the firearms industry does business in this country. “As you would expect, there are strict controls around every aspect of firearm importation and distribution,” Mr Scribani Rossi
said. “This creates a significant amount of administrative work which costs us time and money. It goes without saying that we support entirely the strict controls around firearms trading, but, like any other business, we are always looking for more efficient and cost effective ways of doing things,” he added.
“The application that MSTA has developed will streamline every facet of the process of importing a firearm and delivering it to an appropriately approved customer,” Mr Scribani Rossi said. “For the first time, we will be able to quickly and easily determine where in the process any firearm is and what its
status is. The resultant cut in administrative work and chasing up will enable us to be a more efficient, cost effective business which means a better bottom line – something which makes me very happy.”
